Growing in Faith

But life has a way of eroding our faith, what with broken dreams, peer pressure and the challenges we face. The negative news we hear in the media makes things worse.
As for me, I know how it feels to have deep faith in God only for it to diminish when our dreams fail. In fact, we can do worse things that unbelievers when that happens.
When I was waiting to hear from some American colleges in 2008 for instance, my faith in God was so deep that I believed the colleges would accept me. I remember gazing at a beautiful starry sky, thinking that the same God who made the heavens would take me to America.
But alas! None of the colleges accepted me. Not even Harvard, my first choice. The afternoon I read my last rejection letter I felt so depressed that I turned to adult clips for relief.
Over the years, I have similar experiences, a proof that life challenges can puncture our faith in God. So we need to grow spiritually till our faith remains rock solid in the face of challenges.
We can grow in faith by reading the Bible and memorizing the verses that touch us, reflecting on God's faithfulness, meditating on nature and its wonders and listening to gospel music. Adieu!
