Brotherly Inspiration

More than charming, Joe was bright, at least by Naru-Moru standards, a public primary school we attended. Throughout his Naru-Moru years, he emerged tops, apart from one exam he was beaten to second position.
When I was in Standard 1 in 1994, I saw Joe stand in front of the whole school during end-term parades for topping his class. Seeing him honored that way made me long for the same.
I eventually got such an honor in the third term of 1995 when I emerged second in my Standard 2 class. Joe, who was absent on that parade, said congrats to me when I told him about it.
Many years later when I was going through a rough patch, I also told Joe about it. He then asked me if I knew how long Mandela stayed in prison, obviously to instil me with hope.
Later on when I set up my first blog, he said congrats to me. I've kept blogging over the years, but it's not until now that I'm trying to convert it from something I have to do to something I love to do. See?
