Doing the Little Things That Excite Us

In the same way those experiments led to the magic that electricity does, that's how legends attain greatness. They do the little things that excite them and eventually, everything begins to make sense as they realize their life purpose.
Take Steve Jobs for instance. He took calligraphy lessons in college because they excited him. The calligraphy skills he acquired came in handy when he co-founded Apple Inc., a company that made him a dollar millionaire in his early twenties.
What I have learnt from the life of Steve Jobs is that when we do the little things that excite us, the dots eventually connect and one day, we realize how everything we did had a purpose.
As for me, I am glad to have done what excited me over the years at the risk of losing some friendships. It all started in 2006 when I chose to pursue a diploma in information technology at Starehe Institute because I wanted to learn about computers.
While pursuing the diploma, I applied to four American colleges that required me to take the SAT exam. Though the colleges rejected me, working on my applications and revising for the SAT exam inspired me to read for pleasure.
On leaving Starehe Institute in April 2007, I joined All Saints' Cathedral, a wonderful Anglican church in Nairobi. The beautiful hymns we sang there drew me to the Christian faith. I even bought a Bible.
Nine years later, I set up this blog using the computer skills I acquired at Starehe Institute. And the writing skills I acquired while revising for the SAT exam have come in handy when writing stories for the blog.
Blogging has grown into a passion. It feels wonderful to use my talents in music, writing and public speaking to come up with the contents I share on this blog. And God's Word has been my guide when coming up with the contents.
The little things I did along the way are now beginning to make sense as I realize my life purpose is to inspire the world to godly living with my blog. I would therefore recommend every youngster to do the little things that excite them, even when they don't know what may come out of them.
