I think so because using our talents makes us love what we do. And loving what we do matters more to God than what we do as Mother Teresa believed. Here's what she said:
I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, He will not ask, 'How many good things have you done in your life?' rather He will ask, 'How much love did you put into what you did?'Although making money from our talents can take years as we perfect our craft and build connections, it's worth it in the end because of the satisfaction we will get from doing something original and meaningful. We should therefore encourage our children to develop their talents.
Talents, like opportunities, are unique to each child. A child can have a talent for singing, writing, playing soccer, working with numbers, tinkering with machines, playing a musical instrument, being accepting of others or just being nice.
If we encourage our children to develop their talents, we will save them from the empty life of solely pursuing riches when they become adults. We will also make them more responsible because developing a talent builds character.
As for me, I am glad to have found a job that uses my talents. And that's blogging which also connects me with people. I will do it with love; or to borrow the words of Maya Angelou, I will do it with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.
